With the closet doors in, attention turns to the windows. Each receives new casings.

The decorative moulding is standard for most houses these days, but it replaces rounded
"scalloped" style woodwork that was common in the early 1970s.

While making the window casings, I patched the walls around the windows, which have seen nearly
40 years of shades, drapes and various window treatments.

The window casings were followed by new casings around the bathroom and bedroom doors.

I replaced all the woodwork except the window sills. They were in pretty good condition, and have
a decorative profile that stock replacement window sills no longer have.

The master bathroom window is done as well. Work next turned to priming the closet door jamb.

Next, the first of the three windows is primed.

All of the old heater baseboard is removed. Once the walls are primed, I'll install the new heating surrounds.

The baseboard mouldings have also been replaced.

A close-up of the new baseboard moulding. The floor around the baseboards has some old paint on it,
which isn't a big deal, because the room is going to be carpeted.

The primed window is ready for paint.

With the carpentry behind me, some of the tools -- like the mitre and table saws -- get put away.
